NEW ART EXHIBITION HITS WHERE IT HURTS THE MOST
At a time when we talk about everything—but rarely about what hurts the most—Museum Ovartaci and the artists’ association PRO now invite you inside an exhibition that opens up what can be difficult to put into words. PROvartaci – to be human is not just a contemporary art exhibition. It is an open, courageous, and sensory journey into the spaces we usually keep closed to others:
• Loneliness
• Psychological vulnerability
• Identity in transition
• Existential doubt and longing
• Anxiety and insecurity
The exhibition presents works by 12 contemporary artists, all of whom have worked with inspiration from the artist Ovartaci’s life, work, and existential view of the human condition.
Art that dares to speak about what we prefer to hide away
At a time when statistics on poor mental health, stress, and loneliness are more prevalent than ever, PROvartaci – to be human insists that fragility is not a weakness—but an essential part of being human. This is art that asks questions—not one that provides final answers. And it is art we need.
“We live in a time with increasing pressure on the individual—and with less space for doubt, vulnerability, and reflection. This exhibition is our response: an open, honest, and sensory space where the human being is at the center,” says Mia Lejsted, director of Museum Ovartaci.
A shared space for reflection and recognition—where diversity is a strength, and where there is room for hope.
The 12 artists behind the exhibition work with sculpture, installation, and visual and tactile expressions—all created specifically for the exhibition. The works engage with the fragile, the honest, and the painful. The themes range from the fluid forms of identity and mental boundary states to hope, pain, and the beauty of imperfection.
The exhibition gives words and images to feelings we all know—but few speak about: The feeling of losing oneself, the fear of not being good enough, the longing for calm, meaning, and community
“We want the audience to feel seen and moved—and perhaps find the courage to feel something they have otherwise kept hidden,” says Mia Lejsted, continuing: “We hope visitors leave with a sense of hope and recognition—and an understanding that life is complex.”
