From my exhibition "I don't mind the gap"

Exhibition: "I don't mind the gap", Marie J.Engelsvold.

Opening: 10. march. 2-5 PM. (14-17)

Exhibition period: 10. march-10. april. 2018

Location: Gallerie Jaan. Havnepladsen 2A, 5700 Svendborg, Denmark.

If you are not abel to get to see my exhibition in real life, here are some pictures. It's a mixture of old and new works, blending nicely in the coloured rooms. Like it very much that the walls are not white.

"I don't mind the gap"

My perceptions is in the way. I'm stumbling over the moment.I want my work to be those moments.

The focal point of my work with the sculptures is the composition of incompatible materials. I am inspired by the contrasts and sensibilities of the meeting between the different materials. Heaviness and lightness. Soft and hard. Matt and glossy.

I'm constantly incorporating new materials, and it's in the process of not mastering and knowing the materials, that something magical can occur. The work of getting the different materials to fit together, is very visible, giving the sculptures a fragile and awkward expression. It is by making mistakes and be open for the unplanned, that the works will come alive.

The feeling or radiance of the work is the most important. I don't have a fixed idea about how the artwork will look like, I seek the expression in the process. I'm playing around with various expressions. I build and rebuild. What I do not understand with my head, but is full of life makes me happy.

The drawings also revolve around the sculpture, and various elements that are put together. I play with the contrast between the flatness and 3-dimensional shapes, that blur the eyes. The drawing process, and working with the sculptures inspire each othe.Sometimes a drawing is the starting point for a sculpture, or I'm working on a sculpture in my drawings.

We have been in our studio at the Film Station for one year and we love this place. Here is good space and atmosphere and inspiring surroundings. After 10 years of negotiation, the Film Station has now bought the Old Værløse Flightstation area and is now well on its way to making it into a creative area.

Eventhough we are located 30 minutes by car from Copenhagen, I find it so nice to come out to a more quiet area. Here you can see the sky and the fields and your mind and spirit can fly.

Find your way: "The Flying Studio" The Film Station (Old Værløse Airport) Bringevej 151, building 154, 2760 Måløv. Denmark

If you use the GPS, it's very important that you write: BRINGEVEJ 151 - 2760 Måløv, and not Værløse.

Opening of "A Fabled Object" in Australia.

Some photos from the opening of A Fabled Object, at the Byron School of Art Project Space. Unfortunately my artworks was broken in transit. But considering the meaning of the sculptures, the fact that they all broke to pieces, was kind of a deepening of the theme. We choose to do some rework of the sculptures, rearranging them in a new way.  Helle Jørgensen, who is teacher at the Byron Art School, did a wonderful work, crocheted little cotton socks on the yellow part of the sculpture "Heart to heart", and rearranged the sculptures in a new way, bringing them into a new context.

My sculpture "Heart to heart" that was broken in the transport to Australia.
